Jeep-Club Newsletter 5 / 2013

Yello Jeepers!

That is very common that every club or group or association or .. ok, anyway, every gathering has to have their t-shirts ;)
I'm not offering you those yet - it's just a project..., idea and market research.
Tell me what do you think.
Tell me if would you like to get raw files and try to create your own design.
Tell me if you are at least in 1% interested in buying (YES, MEANS MONEY INVOLVED!) those.
Tell me if you want another colours - I was trying to keep it cheapo, so B/W with two exceptions.

Money? Where money goes to? Well.. you know.. I need new tyres, lift, I dream of JK and as I've mentioned I miss my (MY!) XJ... now it costs 8k .. so BUY THOSE BLOODY T-SHI?RTS!

Naah, joking of course.

Money (profit) will go to me (my personal Paypal) but I'm going to put it into the jeep-club. Servers fees etc., maybe it's enough to found some prizes for some competition... Who knows.
Anyway, what comes from J-C it stays within J-C. I hope that is clear enough and fair.

I do not know prices for printing those T-SHIRTS (any help?, company? contacts? resources?) All I have found was companies offering their own designs and roughly price was 15-20 quid per t-shirt, and 25-30 for personalized design.
I think it is a bit expensive, considering that all that money goes to t-shirt manufacturer, not leaving any profit margin, so I will not run this project until I find BETTER option, which means maximum 19 pounds per t-shirt.
I know you can buy Adidas, Puma, Nike, Christian Louboutin(?) or whatever at that price tag but on the other hand I would like to support UK (or at least UE) manufacturers, so I will not buy it from China (with all respect to our Chinese members, if any). I also think of embroidering... will see...

So, yes, that's it.

Now let me show you the projects, and you vote for them - THREE votes allowed per member :)

Voting will just let me know what direction is right... they are not printed yet, so... any comments welcome! Any questions, ideas, boll..ing - PM me please

Jeep Club Newsletter 4 / 2013

Hello Jeepers!

Last two sections of the forum left for today.

The Market. Here we buy, sell and share resources to some stuff we think may be useful for others. Section divided into three sub-sections :

Bay Watch
Wanted
For Sale

In Bay Watch you can post any links to ebay, gumtree, autotrader or other sites where you've found something interesting - lets keep it clean and Jeeps (or at least cars) related, so please don't post here links to someone's sister worn underwear.

Wanted - you may request parts here. We are collecting heck lot of stuff "just in case" and then have no space in garage, so gals and lads - have a look sometimes into that section maybe your rubbish is someone's else treasure!

For Sale - of course we sale our stuff here. Here I have to ask you to follow few simply rules.
Members can sell anything, but please, put some effort to prepare nice, good looking post with pictures and accurate description of the item. From now on posts containing only ebay link will be deleted. Why? Because ebay doesn't need one more search engine.

BUSINESS SELLERS - It happened in the past that For Sale section was flooded over night by some dealer's stock etc.
Till now I was removing posts only if someone really abused us posting endless stock, but from now policy has changed.

Let me repeat - POLICY HAS CHANGED.

If you are business seller you have to ask Admin for permission to post your stuff. I have decided to take control over it for simply reason. Our forum is growing, so it's presence on internet is growing, we are Jeeps dedicated community, so our For Sale section became a tasty morsel for 'businesses' looking for quick and free way to present their stuff to focused group of customers.

To be clear - I'm not saying I will or not charge businesses for posting their items on jeep-club.co.uk. My concern is to make sure that what is being advertised on B2C basis is quality and worth our attention. If I let to advertise on forum every shady business, forum's future will be dark like Lord Vader's socks.
Conclusion - if you are a business - give me a shout before post. I don't bait. For now If I see you are serious, have history, yet - if you want to be a part of jeep-club.co.uk community and want to share your knowledge and expertise - you are welcome. You'll get BUSINESS rank and voila!

Forum. Last section to discuss. I believe 90% of you never been there, which isn't bad by the way - that means everything goes smooth ;)
It's the place where should you go to report problems with forum, login, pm's, internet, tapatalk, posting, attachments and similar problems. Also if you want to comment on how forum, admin, mods are doing - this is the place where you go.
I also post there all stuff about forum software updates, scheduled maintenance and so on.

So yes - I'm done.
I did my best to describe and explain forum's structure basics.
Again, if something is unclear, give me shout on forum, comment here or send PM. I'll do my best to help.

That's long one again...

Thanks for reading
Cheers

In next issue I'll explain why some people lives on forum while others are spanner men :)

Jeep Club Newsletter 3 / 2013

Hello Jeepers!

This is first newsletter posted exclusively on Blogger. As mentioned previously  issues 1 & 2 are still there, but from now on everything goes right here.

Lets go!

Last time I've finished on Underground section. Now let me explain the rest of forum sections.

Jeep Club Bargains. This bit definitely deserves few words of explanation. I have a lot of PM's from you asking for basic things that are actually clarified, but there is some doubt. Briefly, what's the story?
Forum has agreements with two businesses which offer us discounts on their products. They are :

2GetherInsurance offer us up to 20% discount for our Jeeps. When speaking to them please admit that you are member of Jeep-Club.co.uk.
Our contact is Katrina. You may contact her via forum's PM system HERE.
They insue modified cars and young drivers. Of course their offer may be not good enough for everyone, anyway worth to try them.

Thompsons offers wide range of car electronics and audio. For on-line orders they give us 10% off the price. You need to give discount code when putting order. For their request password isn't public. Please contact me via PM for details.

Please, contact those firms, don't hesitate to ask for discounts, this is what they offer us and we should use it. Always worth to check if they suit your needs.

Technical Discussion. Next section of the forum. This part is purely dedicated to discuss technical issues. Let's be honest, lots of people join forums when they have problem with their cars. Of course there is nothing wrong about that! This is actually the reason why this section is so important. It's our pride that the section is growing and covers more and more typical and completely 'magic' issues our member may experience. That is all thank to you guys, so BIG THANKS here! Lets hope it will grow and become trusted and valuable source of knowledge.

Events. This section is a bit special in our situation. We are nationwide on-line community so for obvious reasons we can not meet up regularly in bigger groups, therefore that section is self explaining. What shall we post here are meetings organised by yourselves, by your local clubs etc.
On this occasion I would like to underline one important thing - please do remember that Jeep-Club is not internet traffic greedy site, which restricts members from posting other clubs/sites events or ban for linking up to them! Of course I wil not let to advertise some poor quality and money-focused sites, lets be clear here. The whole idea behind that forum is to link Jeepers' community, no matter where else you belong to.
Excuse me that bombastic tone, I think that was right time and place to remind that ;)
Lets move on to details. Events are divided into major categories under which you can add your scheduled or planned meet ups. They are England, Scotland, Wales, North Ireland and International Jeep meetings.
Lets try not to post pictures and videos of events that already took place - there is designated area for that described in second newsletter (Events pictures and videos).

Globetrotter. It is relatively new idea on forum. The plan is to share here our experiences on places we've visited, hotels, meals etc. Everything you have noticed when travelling and you think is worth to share. Bit quiet so far, however you may find few interesting posts about road law and regulations in different countries, good spots etc.

Again, to keep things short last two sections of the forum The Market and Forum will be detailed in next issue. Mainly to the fact that there are some rules we should stick to, to keep forum as tidy and clean as possible.

Thank you for reading
Cheers

Jeep Club Newsletter 2 / 2013

Hello Jeepers!

This is reposted 2nd Jeep-Club newsletter. From now on new issues will be posted only here. Of course you will get notified via forum message system.

Welcome to 2nd JEEP-CLUB Newsletter.

As announced in first issue, today we cover few bits jeep-club.co.uk forum's structure. In general forum is divided into nine main sections. They are: chat, gallery, general chat, jeep-club bargains, technical discussion, events, globetrotter, the market and anything else.
First thing first – chat. Chat is forum's functionality offering real-time conversation for registered and logged in members. Of course if there is someone who wants to chat with you. Usually someone replies within minutes, so worth to try it if you need quick response.
Chat's visibility can be disabled or enabled from User Control Panel (UCP) - it's last tab on the right hand side of your UCP – mChat. Go there and if you switch 'Display mChat on Index' to Yes, chat will be visible, switch to No and it disappears. Not that chat is not available for Tapatalk users.
Gallery. That explains itself I think. It's our forum's gallery. You can upload files to existing sub-galleries (related) or ask Administrator to create your own private gallery. Images uploaded to the gallery should not exceed 512KB and 1280x1024 pixels in size. There is rating and comments system which allows you to share your views. Comments may be up to 2000 characters, just in case someone is bubbly ;) One more interesting feature is that you are able to uplink gallery image in post, which saves server space and your time in case you want to discuss image previously posted.

General Chat. As per it's name we discuss here various things. Category contains six sub-forums which includes Jeep chat – to discuss all Jeep related things but not detailed technical stuff.

New Members. Next we have very important category New Members, where everyone should start using the forum quickly introducing her/himself. We do not discuss technical issues there. All threads which turn into 'how to's' are periodically moved to correct sections or deleted.

Off topic – paradise on every forum. We can discuss here anything, only please - be nice ;)

Members Jeeps. We encourage you to post pictures of your car. Also share with us modifications you have done to your Jeep, improvements or whatever you like and if it is related to your car. Section is hungry for pictures!

Event Pictures/Videos. Here we share our events photo stories and videos. Pictures don't have to be uploaded directly to the forum, it could be link to your facebook, picassa, G+ or any gallery. Please state clearly where and when pictures were taken, what kind of event it was and give us a brief story if possible.

Underground. 18+ section. Access granted by Administrator.

To keep Newsletters short we discuss the rest in next issue, mainly for the fact that few sections need a bit more detailed explanation, like for example Jeep-club Bargains and The Market.
Thank you for reading

Cheers

Jeep-Club Newsletter 1 / 2013

Hello Jeepers!

Little change to the way our newsletter is being issued.
