25 ways to insure your car cheaper

Yello Jeepers!

Ok, not 25 maybe, actually it's just tricky-sneaky title to grab your attention ;)

As you know we have discount from 2getherInsurance. I dealt with them some time ago and I can say it was a good deal. Also few of you confirmed good deals with them. That's fine, but I think we deserve even more :)

But what I'm going to focus on now is to provide club with many more (25? ;) ) options to get discounts or better price. I can't say how many more it will be - I will do my best to choose the best companies.

And here, obviously, I need a little bit of your help, as I personally have had business with limited number of insurers, so can speak only about my own experiences.
That's why I'd like to ask you for your input here.
If you could briefly review your current (and previous if you have time) insurance company, it would be great. Really briefly, lets say, give us name, phone or website if it's not a problem, your opinion (good AND bad opinions matters!!!).

Then I'll try to contact a number of companies and try to get some discounts or other form of promotion. Later I put it all together on separated thread or even sub-page, just like tees shop is made.
Every choice will be supported with your feedback on them to read in the future by pepole who will search for insurance.

So, the more of your opinions the better, don't limit yourselves to your current insurance company, if you remember that any company in the past offered you outstanding service, please share it as well.

Depending on how many feedbacks you'll give me here I should put all that stuff together within a month of time.

Read more and have your say on jeep-club.co.uk forum by clicking this link.

Thanks
Mac

Jeep-Club UK view

Jeep-Club UK view

Jeep Club UK begun on 8th of March 2012. By now it truly is most significant UK oriented discussion boards dedicated to Jeep folks.

Jeep-Club United Kingdom logo

Generally speaking community forum is divided in to nine principal chapters. It is: "forum", "chat", "gallery", "general chat", "jeep-club bargains", "technical discussion", "events", "globetrotter", "the market" and "anything else". Step-by-step:

CHAT - Chat is webpage's functionality allowing real-time talking for registered and signed in users. Of course if you have an individual who really wants to talk to you :). Generally anyone comments very quickly, thus well worth to check it if you want fast response. Chat's presence can be disabled or turned on out of User Control Panel (UCP) - it's last tab on the right-hand side of the UCP - mChat. Go there and whenever you switch 'Display mChat on Index' to Yes, chat is going to be visible, switch to No and it disappears altogether. Remember that chat is not going to be there for Tapatalk for iPad and iPhone users.

GALLERY - That I do think explains everything. It's our forum's gallery. It is easy to publish images to already present sub-galleries (related) or ask Admin to publish your own separate gallery. Shots submitted to the gallery should not go above 512KB and 1280x1024 px in size. You will find ranking and commentary system which lets you share your views. Comments could be up to 2,000 characters, when somebody is chatty ;) Another fantastic ability is that you can easily uplink gallery graphic in content, which will can save host space and your time, just in case you would like to discuss image formerly put up.

GENERAL CHAT - As per the label our group discuss a variety of topics here. Area is made out of 6 sub-forums including

  • JEEPC CHAT
  • We write about a lot of Jeep linked stuff even so, not in depth complicated info.

  • NEW MEMBERS
  • Subsequent we've very important category, New Members, in which everyone ought to start using the forum, quickly presenting her/himself. For no reason talk engineering aspects there. Any topics that become 'how to's' are occasionally sent to suitable sections or moderated/removed.

  • OFF TOPIC
  • Hyde Park on every single message board. We may chat everything on this site, basically always be nice here ;). Really do not speak mechanic over here.

  • MEMBERS JEEPS
  • Here you comment on your actual automobile and improvements you have made to it. In addition share with us customizations you've done to the Jeep. Zone is eager for illustrations or photos your vehicle!

  • EVENT PICTURES/VIDEOS
  • Here some of us reveal our own gatherings photo stories and films. Snaps needn't be uploaded on to the board, it could be link to your current bebo, picassa, google or any collection. Remember to state visibly when and where shots have been captured, what type of happening it had been and provide us with a quick storyline if possible.

  • UNDERGROUND
  • 18 years of age sector. Access granted by the Administrator. Here people go over... essentially we present right here more rather than we converse :) If you need more tips on underground part, ask Administrator to let you in :D
JEEP CLUB BARGAINS - This particular little bit undoubtedly ought to get a few words of explanation. Quickly, what's the story? Jeep Club has agreements together with a few establishments that supply us with inexpensive price ranges on the products and services. They are simply :
2GETHERINSURANCE offer us about 20% discount for all our Jeeps. When you first speak to them you should mention that you're part Jeep-Club.co.uk. Our man (or woman rather) there is Katrina. It's possible you'll make contact with her via forum's PM feature. They can insure modified automobiles and fresh owners. Definitely their own offer may be not good enough for anybody, however seriously worth to try the company.

THOMPSONS offer you lot of car technology and audio. For internet purchases they provide us 10% off the price. Make sure you bring discount code any time putting an order. As per their request - code isn't public. Make sure you get in touch with Admin of the Jeep-Club through PM for guidance.

JEEP STUFF ON AMAZON You could also view Jeep-Club Amazon . com wishlist. It's a directory of equipment picked up from Amazon and put in one location. Surely all of the things are someway connected to 4x4, Jeeps, outdoor and entertainment.

Why not contact these merchants, make sure you call for discounted rates, this is exactly they offer us so we may to utilize it. Definitely worth to find out if these businesses satisfy your desires.

TECHNICAL DISCUSSION - Now, next area of the site. This area is purely devoted to focus on details. Truth be told, some people become a member of boards if they have challenge with their trucks. Clearly there is nothing bad with this! This can be the good reason why this is very important. It is our satisfaction of the fact that part is growing and covers increasingly more usual and completely 'remarkable' concerns our people can have.

EVENTS - This part is amazing in our situation. We are nationwide web based group so for apparent reasons we're not able to join up on a regular basis in bigger groups, for that reason that area is self explaining. What we have to put up right here are get togethers organized by yourselves, through your localized clubs etc. On this occasion I will highlight one important thing - please take into account that Jeep-Club is just not web traffic greedy website, which restricts users from posting other groups happenings or ban for backlinks upto them! Without doubt it is not permitted to advertise any kind of low quality and money-focused online websites, let us be straightforward here. The entire plan behind that site is to link Jeepers' communities, wherever else you are in. Let us start working on particulars. Events are split up into a few principal areas under which you can include your reserved meet ups. There're "England", "Scotland", "Wales", "North Ireland" and "International" Jeepers group meetings. Please be sure to not submit pics and movies of gatherings that already was held - there's designated area for all those, defined previously (Events pictures and videos).

GLOBETROTTER - It is relatively recent idea on forum. The plan is to talk about our things on areas we now have visited, accommodations, dinners etc. Everything you could have noticed once traveling and you simply think is definitely worth to mention. Bit silent so far, but you should find a few attractive articles about road laws and polices in various countries, good locations etc.

THE MARKET - On this page we buy, sell and share online resources we predict can be great for others. Zone put into three sub-sections :
      Bay Watch
      Wanted
      For Sale
In Bay Watch you'll be able to post ebay, gumtree, autotrader or other internet sites in which you have got found out anything good - lets ensure that is stays clean and Jeeps (or at least cars) corresponding, so please don't publish here url links to somebody's sister worn lingerie ;)

Wanted - you might request components here. We realize that nearly everybody is gathering heck lots of gear "just in case" thereafter do not have place in yard, so girls and boys - have a look that place from time to time, maybe your garbage is somebody's treasure!

For Sale - definitely we sale our stuff here. Merely follow couple easily tips. Folks are able to sell anything, but remember to put some effort to set up great, trendy info with snaps and suitable outline of the piece. From now on articles including only ebay link can be removed.

Website is always evolving, therefore ensure you check us out regularly, despite your personal Jeep behaves awful on not, and talk to us occasionally ;)
    Also check other Jeep websites

Spin Tires - Game (demo) review for Jeep-Club

THIS POST IS NOT SPONSORED (unfortunately!)

    Hello Jeepers!

    Today first non-newsletter-ish post.

My mate sent me a link to a game. I was a bit skeptic about it at very first moment, but then I've seen the demo movie and I thought 'Hey, maybe worth to have a go...'.

The game is titled SPiNTiRES, by Oovee. Have a look

Last game I've played was Quake, many of Jeep-Club members haven't been born yet, you've got the image - I'm not a game-boy.
Therefore I've tried and couldn't stop playing for an hour :D

It's only a demo version. We can drive UAZ - Heh, lets say it - russian Jeep, or MAZ - Russian... hmm, Unimog I'd say, but this one is 8x8. Both have differential locks and 2x4 or GodKnowsWhatx8 drive system, parking brake, auto or manual.
Actually, however the company which made the game - Oovee, has co.uk domain, I have an unfounded feeling that those guys use Cyrillic in every day life ;) Doesn't matter, brought my attention!

I start with cons here. I have 8GB of RAM, 512MB Nvidia (some.. any.. ) graphic card, and dual core 2.8GHz Intel on board and had to decrease max resolution to 1024x768 and switch most of gizmos off to have fun. But maybe I'm old and outdated, so that's minor thing. Only comparison I have are modern Playstation 3 games. To be sure what I'm talking about I've installed Call Of Duty Black Ops, borrowed of my neighbour and compared details. Of course I've set details and resolution of the Spin Tires to max 1920x1200 on PC to have a closer look at the details in the game. Was slow as I said - my PC is not king of speed, but... it's only my subjective feeling - for example water and mud look way better on PS3 than in the game, but maybe on decent PC it would behave better. Unfortunately I couldn't make screen capture at full details, only in windowed mode, but take my word.

A bit of PITA is that if you stuck and click 'rescue' it takes you back to the start position, instead of leaving you where you are - maybe they'll fix it in the full game.

Bit annoying is camera view. Like every 110% man, it took me a lot of tries and fails before I read the manual and discovered steering options, but camera can be set only with button '1' (NOT F1) and shows the car by default from 45' rear left or 45' left front. You can adjust it with the mouse, but I'd be happy to be able to have driver view option under one button, bird view etc. Maybe they are there somewhere, but I couldn't find them.

Not that it's distracting too much! Not at all!

Now pros - I've set details to the level accepted by my PC and, as I said, one hour just gone-gone! Game is just brilliant! It has that something which keeps you playing despite all that little annoying bits.

You can go through the map in any direction, there are flat, muddy bits, fords and deep holes, trees can be run over, mud and water spreads all over the place, really great fun! Yet there are some 'industrial' obstacles, hills, rocks etc., whatever you want. When you get bored with driving the car like your Jeep at Bagshot, you can turn off 4x4 system and at speed jump trough concrete heaps.
Another funny thing is that the car rides without a driver, what you can see on images :D not a big problem, but bites off a bit of reality.

Driving MAZ is a bit tricky. I never drove 8x8 in real life but delay in steering seems to be too 'game-ish' - maybe it's not, whoever has a ride licence for a tanker ship can judge it. 2 front axles are steering the monster. 2 rear ones seem to be trailed in GodKnowsWhatx8 mode. Good bit is that while UAZ 'Jeep' stuck everywhere, MAZ doesn't give a crap what the terrain is.
Diff locked, all wheel drive, full power and you jump out of anything! Ok, not always, but most of problems are solved ;)

UAZ - apart from issues mentioned above - rides brilliantly! It behaves like Cherokee! Ok, it doesn't but it feels much more like 'normal' car. Normal Jeep I should say. It speed up and brakes well, makes great jumps and you can even drift! :D
Both cars in manual gearbox mode can reach max 2nd gear when diff lock is on - understandable.

One more important thing. I did manage to put car upside down, but I could not damage it. Good, bad? I'd like to have heavy smoke from underneath the bonnet... COOL! :D

Camera slowly follows the front wheels direction, which may be distracting at the beginning, but when you get used to it, it's actulally quite good idea, because when you finally get traction and car jumps out of the mud you can see where are you going.

Yet, for 110% men and 150% women who don't read manuals:

    UP ARROW - accelerate
DOWN ARROW - brake, pressed twice when on 1st gear - reverse
    LEFT, RIGHT AROWS - steering
    Q - All wheel drive
    E - Diff lock
SHIFT - engages the gear or switch to idle.
All the rest, like time of the day, gearbox type, view angle etc - MOUSE

Maybe there are other steering options... go to manual ;)

Yep.. I could talk and talk, but I know I'm boring so, let me shut up and show you the screenshots.

    Enjoy:

    Have muddy weekend!
    Mac / Jeep-Club Admin

After another hour of playing I have to say that a little, bitchy UAZ does noit behave as Cherokee at all! :D
My soul stay in the west! Hopefully in full version we will get more 4x4's.

In summary, those of you shiny gals and lads who are afraid to get some scratches on your posh rides - that's alternative to feel adrenaline in comfort of your own home ;)

    Take care chaps!

    Jeep-Club Newsletter 6 / 2013

    Hello Jeepers!

Forum bits and pieces seem to be explained (as per your feedback), so today let me explain the forum ranks. Firstly the whole idea behind the ranks was to make clear who is moderator and admin - people you may ask for help.
Later we thought that it would be funny to give a rank to every member and since then it is being given automatically by forum. Your rank depends on number of your posts on forum. But not always, let me explain then.

First things first - yellow plates are special and only admin can grant you with yellow plate. By special I don't mean that the rest of you is not special :) you all are! :D Basically yellow plates are related to your function on forum.

The only one plate of that type, special, unique, superb, fantastic bombastic is of course :

    Admin is only one ;)

    Next:

Moderator are here to keep forum clean and tidy. They remove spam and look after the forum when admin is busy*. You may ask them forum related questions, report spam (that is automated process), etc.

    * - has better things to do :D

    Next one is also important:

When you ask the question on forum, lets say you want to know about lift for your Jeep and one of responders is person with BUSINESS rank, you may be sure that this person is in Jeep business. It may be parts supplier, importer, mechanic - have word with this person, I bet she/he will help - Business rank is being granted on very careful manner and only trusted people, recommended by others may have that rank.

    Who's next then?

Those two ranks are equal. When you see this rank that basically means that your question has been answered by person who knows what she/he is talking about. Those ranks have been introduced firstly to say thanks to those knowledgeable men on forum who decided to help us, secondly to give you an idea who they are. I bet many, if not all of them will answer your questions to their best knowledge, so .. use their skills ;)

    Now, time for user ranks.
There are four 'levels' of users on forum. Please, bare in mind that those ranks are not reflecting your Jeepin' skills, your general knowledge or personality! ;)
    Clear?

They were made for fun and the only thing they reflect is a number of your posts on forum. For sake of doing it I'll keep in secret which rank comes when ;) Only I can say that you can remove disgraceful...

...only by saying 'Hello' in New Members Area :)

Then you'll get proud plate :

If you have a lot to say, you may not wait long for..

    ..rank

But if one day you enter the forum and above your name you'll see this :

then IMMEDIATELY SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR! YOU NEED HELP!

    ;)

Btw., if you don't like our ranks and have better idea, give me a shout on forum or comment here. If you come with the awesomemenestest idea ever we may consider it ;)

    Take care people!

    Cheers

    Jeep-Club Newsletter 5 / 2013

    Yello Jeepers!

That is very common that every club or group or association or .. ok, anyway, every gathering has to have their t-shirts ;)
I'm not offering you those yet - it's just a project..., idea and market research.
Tell me what do you think.
Tell me if would you like to get raw files and try to create your own design.
Tell me if you are at least in 1% interested in buying (YES, MEANS MONEY INVOLVED!) those.
Tell me if you want another colours - I was trying to keep it cheapo, so B/W with two exceptions.

Money? Where money goes to? Well.. you know.. I need new tyres, lift, I dream of JK and as I've mentioned I miss my (MY!) XJ... now it costs 8k .. so BUY THOSE BLOODY T-SHI?RTS!

    Naah, joking of course.

Money (profit) will go to me (my personal Paypal) but I'm going to put it into the jeep-club. Servers fees etc., maybe it's enough to found some prizes for some competition... Who knows.
Anyway, what comes from J-C it stays within J-C. I hope that is clear enough and fair.

I do not know prices for printing those T-SHIRTS (any help?, company? contacts? resources?) All I have found was companies offering their own designs and roughly price was 15-20 quid per t-shirt, and 25-30 for personalized design.
I think it is a bit expensive, considering that all that money goes to t-shirt manufacturer, not leaving any profit margin, so I will not run this project until I find BETTER option, which means maximum 19 pounds per t-shirt.
I know you can buy Adidas, Puma, Nike, Christian Louboutin(?) or whatever at that price tag but on the other hand I would like to support UK (or at least UE) manufacturers, so I will not buy it from China (with all respect to our Chinese members, if any). I also think of embroidering... will see...

    So, yes, that's it.

Now let me show you the projects, and you vote for them - THREE votes allowed per member :)

Voting will just let me know what direction is right... they are not printed yet, so... any comments welcome! Any questions, ideas, boll..ing - PM me please
